Factories producing Polish pottery

Boleslawiec is very interesting city. Everywhere you can see that this place is posessed by Polish pottery :). From large industrial factories to small house workshop - all try to make the pottery. I remember when I visited a local producer who just started. He put the oven in his garage, fired the pieces by himself and his wife painted the decorations. Then he loaded his truck and went to Germany for shows. Some time passed when he learned how to obtain good quality, but now his garage business is much larger.

  The biggest, largest, most known etc. I remember when they showed me the process of firing. They have a building with a highest chimney in Boleslawiec, this building is one big oven consisting on separated chambers. They put the pottery pieces in a chamber and then its is closed with a wall of bricks. The big furnace in the middle of the building starts heating . After several hours, the walls are broken and the pieces taken from the chambers. It is like they used to do before the war, I wonder if they still use it this way.
  The heating was based on coal, while all other factories use gas heating. People from Zaklady told me the coal heating was better because they were not able to control precisely the temperature so the pieces were fired mostly in higher degrees than in the precisely measured gas ovens.
  Zaklady is a large, State owned factory, they do not make their forms by hand, only by machines. They have a couple hundreds of artists who paint the pieces.
