Even though the parking lots beside factory shops are monitored, break-ins may happen.

- CURRENCY
First of all , even though Poland is already a member of European Community the official currency is
zloty. Usually 1 US dollar = 3.6-3.8 zloty.
Bills are of 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 zloties. 1 zloty=100 grosz (say:grosh)
In most of pottery shops they accept payments in US dollars and Euro, but there are also some
exchange offices in the town.
- CREDIT CARDS
Of course you can pay everywhere using Visa or Master card (Amex and others are rarely accepted).
But do not try to use checks - nobody takes them. You can withdraw cash using ATM's that are
mostly located at the local banks. One of ATM's is at Hypernova mart.
- SECURITY WHEN TRAVELLING BY CAR
In Poland the car robberies are very common. Always lock your car and park in guarded lots. When
leaving the car never leave your bag, camera or other belongings on the visible area. If you can,
take your car stereo with you - otherwise you may find car windows broken.
- BEGGING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS
Sometimes, just like at many American cities, you may see people standing at traffic lights and asking for money. Do not feel obligated to comply.
Only exception - in summertime teenagers wash
the windshields for some coins - you give them 1 dollar and they will be happy.
- NIGHTLIFE
There is no special night life in Boleslawiec - there are a couple of discos but they sometimes may
be dangerous. In Poland there are no legal restrictions (in fact they exist but most commonly
are overlooked) about alcoohol beverages - so even a 15 years old boy can buy a pack of beer and drink
it in the park.. One reason more not to walk the streets in dark. Instead better set up an elegant
dinner in
Kliczkow castle.
- GAS AND CAR ASSISTANCE
Gas is available in many filling stations - unleaded 95 and 98 and Diesel. Price lower
than in Germany /about 1$ per liter/. If your car gets broken there are a couple of workshops - but
the good idea is to call a taxi - the taxi drivers usually know where your car can be repaired.
