THE BIG POT
The Big Pot (in Polish - wielki garniec) was made in 1753 in Joppe workshop.
It was one of the biggest ceramic pots in the world, and was one of the main tourist attraction in the town, until WWII when it was destroyed.

The Big Pot was present everywhere in the Boleslawiec - one of the bakeries used to sell cake made in its form, it was reproduced on the postcards and small replicas where commonly sold as souvenirs.

The local legend says that long ago one rich man made a bet that his crop of peas from one field could fit in only one pot. Well, soon he got in trouble when realized that his crop was about 2000 litres (500 gallons). None of experienced potters wanted to face such a task but a young apprentice (who, of course was in love with the rich man's daughter) took the challenge.
He made a Big Pot and the rich man gave him his daughter and they lived happily ever after..
